Terrace Canyon

On Sunday (1-10), I hiked to Terrace Canyon with Meetup.com. 18 of us made our way through various forks of Pine Creek Canyon to Terrace Canyon. As you can see in the photo there's lots of ice in the canyon, which made for some fine photos.

There's still snow and ice in both canyons. Although today was sunny, it was still cold as we hiked through Pine Creek Canyon. The walls are too tall and the sun is still in the southern sky, so the canyon gets little sun during the day. All north facing routes in Red Rock will still have snow and maybe ice. Be Careful!

As some of you have seen, I am changing the look of my website (www.hikinglasvegas.com). It will be more functional, look better, and be easier to navigate. All the information will still be there and I am doing everything, so I have complete control. Let me know what you think.

Terrace Canyon - Favorite Canyon in Red Rock

A trip to Terrace Canyon is always special. Right now it's even better with water flowing over the cliffs and walls. Terrace Canyon is located in Pine Creek Canyon. It's a level 3 hike with lots of fun bouldering. Here's some quick directions: From Pine Creek trailhead, follow the trail into the south fork of Pine Creek Canyon. When the canyon divides, scramble into the south fork. Boulder through the canyon about 30 minutes until a large canyon opens from the south. Boulder up this canyon to Terrace Canyon.
You can climb out of the canyon to Terrace Canyon Peak or hike through Hidden Canyon to Rainbow Wall. But many will want to relax in the beauty of the canyon.
