I just published and new route to Turtlehead Junior. This route starts from Kraft Mountain trailhead, so there's no Scenic Loop to drive and it's not subject to the 5 pm closing time. It has some class 4 scrambling and a wild slot just before the summit shown in the photo to the left. I have probably done Turtlehead Jr. 30+ times over the years and never saw the slot until the other day. We (Barb, Jacquie, and I) almost did not find the slot. Just out of curiosity, we continued on a wide ledge instead of following a known route to the summit. It pays to be curious! This is another great winter time hike.
