Tunnel Vision Peak on Steroids!

Many hikers who have done the route to Tunnel Vision Peak agree it's a pretty tough scrambling route. Well the route Richard N. took me up today makes the standard route to Tunnel Vision Peak seem like a class 1 route! There were lots of class 5 climbs. Once at the summit, Richard had a great descent route through Surprise Canyon. We cairned and cleaned the route making it easy to follow. This will become the standard descent route for Tunnel Vision Peak and could be used for White Rock Hills Peak via a car shuttle. Some cars would be left at White Rock Springs and other cars would drive to the southern route trailhead on the Rocky Gap Road.

Tunnel Vision Peak is a good winter hike. It's fairly short and east facing. When it snows in Red Rock Canyon, the east facing routes are first to be clear of snow.
