Road Conditions

Recently I walked the Rocky Gap Road (photo to the left) starting at Willow Springs and ending at the North Peak Trailhead. The road has one bad spot. It's about 2.0 miles from Willow Springs. This spot has always had problems due to water crossing the road at this point. SUVs with high clearance can make it, but you have to know what you are doing. From there it's clear sailing to North Peak Trailhead. I did not walk beyond that point, but heard there are some bad spots before Bridge Mountain Trailhead, about 5.0 miles from Willow Springs.

The road leading to the trailhead for The Park is in decent shape. (This is an unnamed road off of Lovell Canyon Road.) I have reports that you can drive within .10 mile of the trailhead. This is great considering when we found the route (almost eight years ago), the road was not good. You do need a SUV. The Park is one of the most scenic areas in Red Rock Canyon and it's an easy hike.
