This Sunday, 5-10, I and as many as seven others will do the classic hardcore hike in Red Rock Canyon. It consists of hiking to Juniper Peak, Gunsight Notch Peak, Rainbow Peak and Mt. Wilson in one day. I have done this hike once before back in 1997. I again tried in 1998, but two of the hikers were too tired or hurting too much to continue.
It should be an interesting day. I have lots of water cached along the route and took everything out of my daypack I won't need. The lighter one can go, the better and easier the hike will be. I figure it will take between 10 and 12 hours and that's with very short rest stops. If I am not too tired, I will write about the hike tomorrow evening.
