This is an fantastic route that I call the Double Slot route. It goes through an amazing slot located just beneath Upper Calico Tank. The slot has some challenging climbing in it. Just below Turtlehead Jr. the route travels through another slot. Once at Turtlehead Jr. you have a variety of descent options. Another great aspect of this route is no Scenic Loop. The trailhead is in Calico Basin. This just might be the best short hike in Red Rock!
Debbie and I originally found the slot this winter. We could not climb through it because of ice and water. A couple of weeks ago Davis, Dave, Sandy and I climb through the slot. It was much better than I thought it would be. No ropes are needed, if you are comfortable with class 4 climbing.
