Snow in Red Rock and Charleston

Mt. Charleston received about 8 inches of snow over the weekend. All trails have snow on them. I heard from a friend the conditions are good for back country skiing and snowshoeing. It's best to avoid the weekends if possible. With all the traffic it's a zoo up there.

All the major peaks at Red Rock (photo to the right; click on it for enlargement) have snow on them. Kraft Mountain and Calico Hills are snow free. All waterfalls are at their prime! We just hiked Kraft Mountain Loop. It's normally dry in the photo to the left. Currently there's about four feet of water! All canyons are full of water and photo opps.

The forecast looks great with temps warming and lots of sunshine by the weekend. You can avoid snow by heading out to the Lake Mead Area, play in the snow up in Mt. Charleston, or see and photograph rare waterfalls in Red Rock. Where else in the country do you have this diversity all less than a hour's drive?
