Snow in Red Rock

Over the weekend Red Rock saw a dusting of snow. In a nutshell, north and west facing routes will have snow at higher elevations (5,000+ feet). Also there will be ice along most of the routes. It's just too cold at night and not enough direct sunlight to melt much of the ice. The following are the best bets for ice free routes to peaks:
Magic Mountain
Tunnel Vision Peak
Bridge Point
Calico Traverse
Kraft Mountain
All the trails, except Bridge Mtn Trail and North Peak Path, should be ice free.

Mt. Charleston now has an 18 inch snow base at 8,500 feet and more at higher elevations. Expect snow covering all trails. Normal hiking in Mt. Charleston is over for the year.
