Even though Las Vegas has not seen rain in a few weeks, there's still lots of ice in Red Rock. The photo to the left was taken during a descent from White Rock Hills Peak. Any route that has a north facing section with steep slabs or normally dry waterfalls will have ice. The best bet in Red Rock is Calico Hills. There are numerous scrambling routes and by starting in Calico Basin you can avoid the Scenic Loop.
Lake Mead is the hiking area if you do not want to watch for ice. Here are my favorite Lake Mead hikes:
Anniversary Narrows Peak
Dry Falls Peak and Loop
Fortress Butte and AZ Hot springs.
Fortification Hills - West Face
Note: Some of the above hikes require a pass or a daily fee.
