Updates to the Member's Only Section: Bridge Point and Fern Canyon

Two of the best hikes in Red Rock Canyon, which is just 20 miles west of Las Vegas, NV, were updated this week. Bridge Point is a favorite hike among locals. It soars 6670 feet into the air. I completely rewrote the description, added more photos (24 photos), waypoints, and topo maps. The write up includes a shortcut which saves almost 45 minutes round trip and adds more scrambling. I also eliminated the loose hike up the slope just before the summit. The route now travels along the East Ridge. It's all sandstone and has great views down to the desert floor. This route was hard to follow, but not anymore!

I also updated the hike into Fern Canyon, another local favorite. This is an easy hike that travels to water and ferns! It has two stopping points. The first is an easy hike the whole family can do. Along with water and the ferns, hikers can watch climbers scale Dark Shadows, a very popular technical climb. More adventurous hikers can continue to the seasonal waterfall.  Members of Hiking Las Vegas can download and print these hikes now. Not a member? Click here to find out how to become a member.
