Lost Creek Higher Overlook Route

I got a break from teaching spin class today and hiked with the Wednesday group. It was a small group consisting of Peter, Doyle and Candace. They have never done Lost Creek Higher Overlook in Red Rock Canyon, just 20 miles west of Las Vegas. Although a short route, it has plenty of climbing challenges. From the parking lot the route looks technical, especially climbing under a roof.

It was a near perfect day, more like October than December. We opted for the short version not going all the way to the overlook. This worked out well as we cairned the route over to the major drainage we descended. This is the same drainage we take to do Goodman Peak.

Notes: The route is in good shape with lots of cairns and no brush. With the photos I took today, I now have over 13,000 photos of Red Rock Canyon and over 23,000 hiking photos.
