Today (12-27), nine hikers made it to the top of Eagle Mountain, which is just over the boarder in California. It's one of my favorite desert summits. It's a relatively short hike with an airy traverse to the summit.
Although loose in some places, overall the rock is very good for a desert peak. It's about a 90 minute drive from Las Vegas, but the views from the summit make the drive worthwhile. If you have not done this peak, I highly recommend it. Members can download the step by step guide here.
