The Real Grand Canyon

I have hiked the Grand Canyon five times now. This past weekend was the best time I have had in the Canyon. We backpacked the Bass Trail down to the Colorado River and camped on a sweet beach. This was so much better the than normal rim to rim hikes I endured in the past. Bass Trail offers incredible views, solitude, and a little slice of history of the Grand Canyon. In my opinion the only way to hike this trail is a two or more day backpack. Sleeping on the sandy beach at the Colorado River with the sound of the water flowing over Bass Rapids is something everyone should experience.

The trail has been recently improves and my trail guide (soon to be in the Member's Only Section of this web site) will reflect these improvements. This is not a tough backpack and should be on everyone's to do list that enjoys the Grand Canyon. With that said this would be a brutal backpack during the summer. Autumn is the best time with mid spring a close second.
