This weekend we have two great hikes planned. On Saturday we are scrambling to Shark Boulder and Juniper Peak. This is a fairly new route. There's lots of fun scrambling and a scary descent to get on top of Shark Boulder. On Sunday we are doing a classic: Lost Creek Canyon to North Peak. This route avoids the Rocky Gap Road. The route ascends the steep and beautiful Lost Creek Canyon.
If you are into flowers, now is the time to go to Red Rock Canyon. Due to the snow this winter, the desert is in full bloom.
The road to Black Velvet trailhead is still closed. It will probably be some time during the summer before the road is opened. This means all routes out of Black Velvet trailhead will have to wait until next autumn.
